Travel through time and reflect on the genesis, journey, and brotherhood of the multidimensional rap trio from Yonkers, The LOX.

Trinity: The Story of The LOX comes to us as a time capsule, a hero’s welcome, and a cautionary tale about a predatory industry. SheekStyles P and Jadakiss, the rap trio who make up Living Off Xperience (The LOX), were originally discovered by Mary J. Blige and arrived on the scene between the mid-to-late 90s. Their debut album, Money, Power & Respect, went platinum in 1998, peaking at #3 on the Billboard 200 chart and ranked #1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-hop Albums.

This raw and lyrical documentary explores how the music industry’s abuse of power around artist ownership and publishing rights was a pervasive, open secret until The LOX demanded what was rightfully theirs. Viewers come to understand how The LOX have managed to cement their legacy while maintaining the highest degree of dignity as they moved through three decades of hip-hop, each era more complicated than the next. This film presents the band as they are: men who are rich in history and continue to serve as stewards of The Culture, backed up by a renowned musical catalogue.—Shakira Refos
