With prestige draped around every facade, the legendary Ivy League institution Kingston College becomes the backdrop for a searing look into the intersecting lives of students and faculty alike. Two students (Leann Gardner, Nick Snipes) enthralled in a situationship stoke the flames of tribalism between their friend groups as they decide whether to take things to another level. A first-generation young woman (Rose Badiru) fights back against the elitist tendencies of peers and admin alike. One brave professor (Michael C. Liu) seeks innovation with the help of a delinquent legacy brat.
If you’re curious about what the “kids" really think, look no further than this piece with vicious and pointed takes from all directions. The duo of Carlos Key and Kalijah Rowe bring their directorial debut forward with serious fire and a critical lens that puts them squarely in the conversation of what’s next. These filmmakers take on the realities of contemporary academia in America with a reckless abandon that’s thrilling, endearing and full of blistering moments.—Casey Baron
