Mother-daughter creative duo Natalie Baszile (author of the novel “Queen Sugar”) and Hyacinth Parker make their Tribeca debut with Harvest. This touching portrait of the deep American South follows the Nelson brothers, who may be short on finances but are rich in family, humor and ambition. As they take on a new land lease to expand their dreams, they’re faced with challenges such as climate change, rising costs, and brotherly tensions that threaten their livelihoods. The Nelsons fight to find a way through.
In this powerful and emotionally raw documentary, audiences are welcomed into the lives of the Nelson family. Following these four ambitious fourth-generation farmers in rural Sondheimer, Louisiana, we question alongside them: Will their determination and passion pull them through, or will their ambition backfire? Navigating legacy and loss isn’t even the tip of the iceberg for these brothers.—Tiana Harris
