Multi Grammy Award winner and New York City native Alicia Keys reflects on her childhood growing up in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen and the journey that led her from the gritty streets of 90s New York to the Broadway stage in Tribeca alum One9's (Nas: Time Is Illmatic, TF 2014) moving tribute to a life of music, dreams, and the city that breaks them and makes them.

In her own words, Grammy-winning Alicia Keys shares stories from her childhood while tracing her journey from the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York City to the Broadway stage in order to launch her first Broadway musical of the same name: Hell’s Kitchen. Through archival footage, family photos and videos, and scenes of New York City over the last few decades, this documentary explores more than the creation of a hit musical from an award-winning creator. It shows the story of a young woman, growing up as a child of a single mother with challenges of her own, surrounded by other artists and seeking a road to artistic growth and acceptance.

Alicia Keys: Girl From Hell’s Kitchen brings to life all that went into the creation and the production of Hell’s Kitchen — the risks, collaborators, ups and downs and pressures of success faced through the experience of the woman at the helm of it all — Alicia Keys herself.—Deborah Rudolph
