This new, official documentary takes an intimate look into the life and legacy of Carmelo Anthony as he is inducted into the Hall of Fame and sees his son, Kiyan, launch his collegiate basketball career.

There's more to life than just basketball in Born Melo, the official documentary following former New York Knicks player and power forward Carmelo Anthony. In his own words, Anthony reflects on his upbringing in Baltimore, his meteoric rise to NBA superstardom and his legacy as a Hall of Famer. Featuring exclusive interviews and never-before-seen footage, this film replays all the major highlights from his electrifying high school debut to leading Syracuse into championship glory.

Yet the real heart of Born Melo is Anthony’s son, Kiyan, as he finds his place in the world of basketball and life. Making the decision to commit to Anthony’s alma mater, Kiyan is thoughtful about his future and about following in his father’s footsteps — seen quite literally as he practices in the training center named after him. The film meets a reflective Anthony at a crossroad where he gets to redefine himself as Melo the basketball player, and Melo the father. Born Melo is a welcomed departure from your typical sports documentary format, inviting audiences to experience the interior life of Carmelo Anthony in a new, refreshing and authentic way.—Alece Oxendine
